DNAP has begun the Creative Curriculum which has been suggested to all North Carolina Child Care Centers.
DNAP started this curriculum on July 1, 2007. It coincides with the Environmental Rating Scales which are used to determine the amount of stars child care centers will receive. Centers can receive from one to five stars. Presently, we have three stars. We are currently striving for five stars.
The Creative Curriculum should assist in receiving five stars after the next assessments. This curriculum emphasizes approaches to learning; emotional and social development; health and physical development; language development and communication, cognitive development including Mathematical Thinking and Expression; Scientific Thinking and Invention, Social Connection and Creative Expression. In 2009, DNAP has contracted two specialists for enrichment. A Music and Dance Specialist meet with children for special Music and Dance time. We are very excited and enthusiastic about this curriculum. Please check the News section each month for updates on DNAP's planned activities and events. |
